Our Nurses are Experts in Foot Care for All
Everyone has feet, but not everyone knows the value of them. Our nurses and staff at Footcare by Nurses believe everyone deserves great evidence-based foot care. There is no “one size fits all” model for foot care. Instead, our nurses give each patient the individualized care they deserve. We take care of all feet including those who are medically compromised and diabetic feet. The majority of our work is with elders.
Foot care is not just about nails or the cosmetic look of the foot; instead we focus on improving overall foot function to prevent falls and improve quality of life. Our work reduces pain, improves foot function, increases circulation, enhances balance and mobility which all translates into better quality of life. Who couldn’t use a little of that?
Our patients return to us time and time again because of the kindness, compassion, integrity, and caring shown in every visit. We have built a world where the patient-nurse relationship has trust extending beyond standard care.
What To Expect
Initial sessions are 45 minutes to 1 hour. Which allows us to get to know you and your health history and concerns. It also includes a full lower leg assessment, care, sharing of knowledge and our special tension releasing circulation-enhancing massage.
Ongoing sessions are about 30-minutes and always includes a lower limb assessment followed by the needed treatment and massage
Using the latest in non-toxic materials, foot care tools and technology are used to safely and gently tend to concerns such as long nails, fungal issues (eg. Athletes foot and/or fungal toenails) corns, calluses and skin care. Our nurses then apply oil to clean the skin and gently release the tension out of the foot and legs. The results speak for themselves. Dignity to toenails, feet that function to the best of their abilities, lighter legs and a quality one on one nurse-patient interaction.
Our nurses are not only trained in foot care they are also educators and patient advocates. They are knowledgeable, empathetic listeners with a broad base of skills. Our nurses have the functional knowledge base and experience needed to care for people, no matter what condition they may have.
While nurses are not able to diagnose medical issues, they have trained eyes, ears and a keen sense of perspective. When a nurse calls a doctor’s office with a concern about a patient, the doctor listens. Nurses also understand that being mortal requires some TLC for both the patient and the caregiver.
Born and kindled in the U Mass Amherst School of nursing PhD program, FootCare by Nurses has also been supported and mentored by the Berthiaume Institute and also received a Grinspoon award.
